The Arc, Hull

Eltherington's skills were utilised by Niall McLaughlin's design team and Wright Construction Ltd to create the striking curved roof panels on The Arc in Hull.

The perforated aluminum panels were carefully designed to allow maximum light into this environmentally-friendly, low-carbon building. The materials used in the panels were selected with utmost care to ensure their durability and to withstand the challenging coastal conditions to which the building would be exposed.

Eltherington used marine grade aluminum, specifically the 5083 grade, a high-strength alloy with excellent corrosion resistance and the ability to withstand harsh industrial atmospheres. The perforated panel design also served as a solar shading mechanism, reducing the need for electric lighting and air conditioning. Additionally, the sculptured top and bottom panels, designed and manufactured using CNC machinery, provided the building with a unique visual identity.

Thanks to Eltherington's expertise in materials and design, The Arc in Hull is a stunning example of a low-carbon building that promotes energy efficiency. The perforated design of the solar shading still allows sufficient natural light into the building while also providing cover from direct sunlight. The use of marine grade aluminum ensures that the building can withstand the salt and wind-driven rain that is characteristic of the coastal location.

Overall, Eltherington's contribution to The Arc in Hull has resulted in a visually striking and environmentally sustainable structure.
